Quality of design, Quality of confirmance and Quality of performance

Creation of any product involves two major stages – creation of product in our mind and physical creation. That is first step is to imagine the product according to our requirements, based on our imagination we design the product and then second step is to physically produce the product.

Therefore the term quality involves two aspects quality of design and quality of confirmance.

What is Quality of design ?

Quality of design means how design of product confirms to the customer requirement. When producer is making the quality of design of the product, he should take into consideration the customer's requirements in order to satisfy them with fitness for use of the product. 

If the design does not reflect the customer's requirements, the product which the producer offers him would not probably satisfy the customer. It means product have poor quality of design.

What is quality of confirmance ?

Quality of confirmance means how specifications of actual product confirms to the design of product. When the quality of a product entirely conforms to the specification (design), the quality of conformance is said to be excellent.

What is quality of performance ?

In order to make the product perform well both quality of design and quality of confirmance are equally important. Accurate confirmance of products dimensions with design is also not of any use if design is itself wrong. Similarly accurate design of product with improper confirmance is also not of any use. Therefore if the product should perform well then quality of performance should be good.

(Quality of performance) = (quality of design) + (quality of confirmance)
